It's 2:50pm and I'm just now taking my lunch break. For those of you who know me, you know that usually means all things Yoga. It's a welcome break from the requirements of my day job, and it gives me time to let my mind wander.
I have recently decided I need to take more time for myself. Between having a full-time job, owning a yoga studio, teaching classes, and taking care of my family..."ME-time" has been a bit scarce. I came up with a MUST list....
1.) Go to bed before tomorrow starts.
2.) Eat Healthy. Oh wait, I already do that. So...I have decided I will stop being frustrated by my strict diet restrictions and find new inspiring recipes to try.
3.) Get back on my mat. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE leading you guys, but I need to make time to get back in this room alone. I also need to "wander"...
4.) MASSAGE....at least once every 6-8 weeks. Seriously....I deserve it! - and so do you!
5.) Focus on the new phrase I came across and apply it my life....ME-sponsible. If it's not serving me, my health, or my happiness it's GONE.
This list may grow and change...but regardless, I'm focusing on my breath and letting it lead me to where I need to be!
This video is a result of a recent challenge. A co-worker of mine challenged me to do a pistol squat. He couldn't do one, but had explained his 20 year old daughter recently accomplished that goal. Multiply that child's age by 2 and add 1 and well...you, know where I'm going with this. So, I got out of my own head and committed to getting it done. I asked for seven days and only needed five. (Walking is still a little difficult and stairs simply terrifying). The point, I just had to get out of my own way. I had the strength, but didn't know how to use it. I asked for help and pointers (God-Bless my cross-fitters), I practiced, and I enjoyed the journey.
6.) Encourage others to do the same.
My hope is you will consider getting out of your comfortable daily routine and spend more time taking care of you.
See you soon!
